Elizabeth Hunsucker

Hello My Name Is...

Elizabeth Hunsucker

About me....

I am the K-5 and 8th grade Resource teacher here at BEMS. I attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and also the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. This is my 5th school year as an educator and my 2nd year at BEMS! I am married to a local farmer and live in Bennettsville. My husband and I enjoy hunting, fishing, camping, college football (Go Gamecocks!), and being active in our church.

My classes...

A Resource teacher is a specialized educator that focuses on helping children with physical or educational learning difficulties to develop their reading, writing, mathematics, behavioral, or transition skills.

I pull identified students out of the General Education classroom to reinforce skills learned and provide the one-on-one instruction that a student may need. I may go into the General Education classroom with my students and co-teach (inclusion)

If your student is struggling...

If you notice that your student is falling behind and not performing on grade level, please see your students General Education teacher. Meet with them to identify the needs of your student. If necessary, the teacher can refer your student to the Student Intervention Team (SIT) and begin academic or behavior interventions to bridge the gap. Please see your child's General Education teacher, or me,  to learn more about the SIT process.
