The world is increasingly becoming interconnected. We purchase goods made all over the world, and events halfway around the world have a major impact on our daily lives. My goal is to help students understand the world they live in and their place in it. We intend to set high expectations for all students, including projects incorporating high level thinking and content area reading and writing. We will cover world history over the past 400 years. During this time, amazing changes created the modern world we live in today, including the rise of global trade, democracy, nationalism and industry. The South Carolina standards we will cover are:

  • Standard 1: Colonization and the Rise of Global Trade (1600s and 1700s)
  • Standard 2: The Development of Limited and Unlimited Governments in Europe (1600s and 1700s)
  • Standard 3: The Age of Revolutions and the Rise of Nationalism, Industrialism and Imperialism (1800s)
  • Standard 4: World War I, the Great Depression and World War II (1914-1945)
  • Standard 5: The Cold War (1945-1991)
  • Standard 6: Problems in the Modern World (1991-Present)
